The country is being stretched to breaking point because of the wants of the people who vote National, or who identify with the accumulation of comfort and style that the moneyed class want. Actual needs and the needy can go jump.

If efficiency and effectiveness were regarded as an intrinsic pair, we would see what was needed and also look at unintended consequences that would mar any innovations. Gluckman won't. He serves the want class, not the needs of the society and the land and water which is the home to helpless animals as well as we, who seem helpless to use our education to plan a viable future making practical and precautionary decisions.greywarblernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-19817624013228145222018-11-16T13:26:43.120+13:002018-11-16T13:26:43.120+13:00There is this mania for efficiency. I think the pseudo-privatised way government is run now, particularly local and regional government has actually forgotten this – if they ever knew it.Guerilla Surgeonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03427876447124021423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-30699027769790966712018-11-16T12:41:16.717+13:002018-11-16T12:41:16.717+13:00Describes to a T what happened at Christchurch Cit...Describes to a T what happened at Christchurch City where I used to work from the second Garry Moore mayoralty onwards.Andrew Nicholsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-86761254686324495182018-11-16T11:24:21.569+13:002018-11-16T11:24:21.569+13:00I think this announcement from a government advise...I think this announcement from a government adviser is relevant to the topic.

science rural
8:41 am today
Scientists argue for urgent new debate on GM in NZ
From Morning Report, 8:41 am today
https://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/morningreport/audio/2018671480/scientists-argue-for-urgent-new-debate-on-gm-in-nz
Listen duration 3′ :26″
Sir Peter Gluckman, former chief science advisor for the Prime Minister, is calling for new debate on the future of genetic modification in agriculture.
