Jucinda risks a huge amount interfering. Lives. Yet you clearly think they are bastards too, as many of us do. I think they are a bunch or shits, yes.
Yet their policy in this narrow field on boat people is entirely the right one. It should be copied all around the world, to save lives and more. To save all of us.
But we all, everywhere could do a lot more to help people in situ. Help them stay home and prosper. That is the right place for all. Home.
Same applies to the war torn Arab world. We should not take these people as the West cannot absorb all these Muslims without destroying itself. But we should do a great deal more to help them survive and return and rebuild. Perhaps they will then become more like the liberal free and humane societies we enjoy in the West.
Above all we must preserve ourselves and our civilisation or all is lost.Charles Enoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-76220894416783333102017-11-11T10:36:29.860+13:002017-11-11T10:36:29.860+13:00I would think that Japan in WW2 might have conside...I would think that Japan in WW2 might have considered a base in the Marlborough Sounds to be useful, and that would give them proximity to Antarctica, which was possibly a future treasure trove. They keep on with the whales I think just to assert themselves, and show they aren't lapdogs to the west. Just some thoughts, I don't have some learned reference.gnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-24259467053907849542017-11-10T06:42:19.136+13:002017-11-10T06:42:19.136+13:00The Japanese never intended to invade New Zealand,...The Japanese never intended to invade New Zealand, or for that matter I suspect Australia. All they had were plans to cut us off from our allies. The Japanese were never going to win World War II either. It wasn't so much a war of long-range torpedoes, as a war of production. At which America was supreme. There's a lot of bullshit talked about the Japanese and Australia and New Zealand in some circles, but that's all it is – bullshit.Guerilla Surgeonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03427876447124021423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-76955933810243038672017-11-09T19:14:49.968+13:002017-11-09T19:14:49.968+13:00In Australia there is much greater awareness of th...In Australia there is much greater awareness of the real strategic risks and vulnerability of Australia and NZ. Not only was Darwin bombed the threat of invasion of Australia and probably New Zealand was quite highway. The stopping of the Japanese advance South at Midway in 1942 was largely a matter of luck and the naval actions 2000 miles north of us through Guadacanal was were the US suffered their most major ship losses with a lot of cruisers being lost to fast long range Japanese torpedoes which were in many respects far superior even for surface ship strikes to anything the US or UK began to develop before the 1970s. I would presume the US Forces encamped and training along the West Coast of the North Island partiuclarly on the Kapiti coast from Plimmerton to Otaki from 1942 to 1944 pretty precisely corresponded to the level of threat perceived for the antipodes in Washington and to me the logical way to attack NZ and other than by a coup or gradual political intrusion and subversion is to attack straight into the harbours of Auckland and Wellington or the surounding beach landings to seize the major airstrips at Whenuapai, Mangare, Ohakea and Palmerston North. To attack around Wellignton would be something of a diversion Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-9148755465455452322017-11-09T10:58:03.518+13:002017-11-09T10:58:03.518+13:00It hurts to think dispassionately when it destroys...It hurts to think dispassionately when it destroys a long-held comfortable illusion. But I don't see Australia changing. The country has settled into a line of thought and behaviour that denigrates NZ and have better things to do than reflect on their faults.

Rationalise is their main system of handling their country's poor behaviour. We are advancing along this path also as shown by the still strong vote for National. Maori are increasingly showing up here as the true NZs, the people who have carried forward their indigenous culture, while we adopted that of the rapacious west and paid lip service to Christianity. But we couldn't wait to abandon our controls that enhanced and supported the settled, basically good society we said we wanted.

Now Australia has infiltrated the little that we had left, and we are watching them abuse NZs and like sly criminals, smile to the faces of our politicians and useful, amoral businesspeople, while they knife us in the back. greywarblernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-36314382812378567232017-11-09T08:14:39.907+13:002017-11-09T08:14:39.907+13:00'Had she registered a nation arming itself to ...'Had she registered a nation arming itself to the teeth in preparation for projecting “Five Eyes” power north, into the Indonesian archipelago, east, into the Pacific, and west, into the strategically vital Indian ocean"

Australia's current defence budget is 1.9% of GDP and projected to rise to 2% in 2020.It seems a little over the top to describe them as arming themselves to the teeth.Simon Cohennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3753486518085091399.post-9624072649479344202017-11-08T12:00:19.790+13:002017-11-08T12:00:19.790+13:00Australians being Australians, for ever.Australians being Australians, for ever.peteswriteplacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04474922953916383101noreply@blogger.com
