Her House. (With Apologies to Crosby, Stills and Nash.)

Her House is a very, very, very fine house.

I’ll see to Neve
While you go and cook the Snapper
That you caught today

Staring at the screen
For hours and hours, I wish that people
understood the problems
… difficulties

If only they could wear my shoes
for just five minutes, then they’d know how hard it is to
please everyone

I know they all need homes, and if there was
A silver bullet don’t you think I would have fired it?
So they could avoid the hardships
… difficulties

Our house really is a bloody nice house
We bought it just in time
You’d think that was a crime
But given my job, what was I to do?
What’s more …

Blah-blah, blah-blah-blah-blah-blah
Blah-blah-blah-blah, blah-blah-blah-blah-blah
Blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah
Blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah
Blah-blah …

Chris Trotter.

History repeats itself. You either support or oppose decisions made round the world.

One thing I noticed on Twitter: property investor One Roof? Mad as hell. Is invoking McCarthy and calling out Woke. This could be a breakdown between the Michael Barnet/ Paul Spoonley concensus.

Kaufmann does not attend only to the nationalist side of Western politics. Whiteshift gives ample consideration to the globalist side as well, animated by what Kaufmann calls “left-modernism.” This is an ideology peculiar to the West, originating among late-nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century American intellectuals. Progressive advocates of left-modernism such as John Dewey and Jane Addams were already defining the United States as the “embryo of . . . a universal civilization,” continually fed by open immigration. Left-modernism urges minorities to cultivate their particularities while the ethnic majority is instructed to “universalize itself out of existence,” a policy Kaufmann describes as “asymmetrical multiculturalism.”

Open immigration and asymmetrical multiculturalism support global capital’s bottom line as well. Dissolving borders allows greater access to low-wage unskilled labor. It also helps businesses that rely on high-skill workers avoid supporting the schools that educate them, the families that rear them, and the communities in which they grow up. Anti-majoritarian politics, meanwhile, undermines the ability of any demos to form and wield democratic power against business. Thanks to these shared interests between intellectuals and investors, left-modernism has combined with capitalism’s “four freedoms”—the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor across borders—to become the ruling ideology throughout the West.

The middle-class dream. Nice version of the song Chris. We are back to Yes Minister, a very poignant example of fiction that has turned into fact. One of the writers was right-wing so they can't be said to be well-balanced in their thinking.

If the right people don't have power - Yes, Prime Minister - BBC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmOvEwtDycs
Sir Humphrey Appleby on the Proper Function of Government - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIYfiRyPi3o

Back to 1964 - in How to Win an Election (or not Lose by Very Much) there was a skit concerned with housing. A clever architect had used spare space in normal housing such as between walls, and designed the garage to fit into the bedroom with advantages for people coming home late at night - just roll over and you were in bed. (We've adapted that with people sleeping in garages!) It was called to Home it May Concern. In Black Books Fran? dreams that her bedroom in a shared house is getting smaller, the walls are closing in, and notices the next day that next to her No.17 is a new small No.17A.

We just have to get creative! Laugh it off. However when up against recalcitrant powers and politicians the suffragettes had to resort to physical activity. They made a dangerous move in 1912 in Ireland aimed at Asquith. Soon after was the Easter Uprising in 1916. Having somewhere decent to live in security of tenure can be regarded as equalling the importance of having a vote and some sort of say in a country's machinations.

Greyw at 10.20 ' One of the writers was right-wing so they can't be said to be well-balanced in their thinking.' This turned out wonky. I meant to say that the two writers were from different political sides amd the result seems well balanced, not weighted in its message; but missed a word or two.

Well with no apologies to Neil Young............

"So the powers that be left me here to do the thinkin'
And I just turned thirty seven
I was wondering what in heaven.....

Shelter me from the bureaucrats and the finger
Cover me with the thought that wants to pull the trigger
Just think of me as one you'd never figured
That I would fade away so young
With so much left undone.................."

Ardern made a profit of over $300,000 k on her last property in Pt Chev, which she flipped within three short years of ownership. As she goes hard against landlord and speculators, I say hyp hyp hypocrisy! Pinot Socialists just never ever go away, they just get bolder! The elite of course, exempt themselves from their party base and the poor suckers who believe every last lie they tell.

Anonymous - which herb are you on? How do we know that you know truth about the profit. When did it happen? When it was done it must have been legal, can't be blamed selling for market price. The thing is that floating on that tide, the profit will be eaten up quickly by the rising prices. So not so big after all probably, just matching the insanity numbers on the houses where she needed to purchase.

Don't pour out all your cynicism and disgust on her; women aren't accepting being scapegoats for everything any more. And the heat is going up on that too in an inflationary way. If we want to improve things we have to be cooler in the main, than you have been.
