Dear Chris

As others have commented your posts this year have been thoughtful, insightufl, provocative and more than a little encouraging. Perhaps the ideologies of ‘left’ and ‘right’ are dissolving in the face of the larger dissolution of our cultural narrative.

Today we celebrate the birth of the Christ child, the Prince of Peace; foretold by the prophets, proclaimed by angels, witnessed by shepherds and wise men alike. He is Emmanuel, God with us; present in the midst of our joys and our failures, our sin and sorrows exchanging beauty for our ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

We are of all people most blessed.

Seasons greetings Chris. As one of your right leaning readers I always enjoy your posts because you have the art of giving both sides of the story when exploring your current subject. For me you are a curious mix of old socialism and sensible centrism. I always enjoy your thoughtful analysis even when I disagree with it. Hope this coming year is a good one for you.
